ENDLESSLY OBSESSED

WITH

THE

BEAUTY

OF THE IN-BETWEEN MOMENTS

AND MAGIC

Hi ! I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Jo, a documentary and portrait photographer based in New York. I shoot families, couples, kids, intimate weddings, individual portraits… I’m here to tell a story, your story, and to help you show the world, or maybe just yourself, the magic I see.

I believe the best moments are the in-between ones.

The expressions you make as you tell me why your next project excites you so much, the quick glance over your shoulder to check the kids are still in tow, the group of friends talking about nothing much, the parents of the bride saying ‘she did it!’ with just a single look at each other, the spontaneous laughter as you and your partner tell me your origin story… those are the moments .

Throughout history, the medium of photography has been used to do so much more than capture still images of an artists subject; it can tell a rich story. This belief has been part of my artistic approach since I loaded my first roll of film 19 years ago.

Photographs have documented the most poignant moments of our history, communicated feelings, captured light, and narrated stories. Each shot I now take is crafted to reflect the narratives that connect the individuals around me to their place in time and the complex and beautiful story of humanity.

After completing a photography degree in my childhood home, London, I was fortunate to have an exhibition at the iconic National Portrait Gallery. The art pieces I created for that exhibit further shaped my understanding of the power photography holds to tell stories. It made me fall more in love with people and capturing the dynamic threads that both connect us and make us unique. The exhibition told the rich stories of some of the residents of Stratford, a neighborhood in London. As the photographer I met these residents in their homes and heard their stories… everything about their geography, history, homes, and emotions shaped the photos I went on to create. It’s this same story telling I bring to my clients today. Not just placing bodies in front of my camera but taking the beauty and the normality of people’s lives, and weaving them into a piece that is art at face value, but also with a far greater depth.

WHAT STARTED IT ALL

“…crafted to reflect the narratives that connect the individuals around me to their place in time…”

I’ve been fortunate enough to work on both sides of the Atlantic, gaining years of experience in both London and New York, where I’ve worked numerous fashion weeks, exhibited, and worked in art direction and social media, using storytelling in different ways alongside photography. From just a simple conversation, a clothing choice, or an anecdotal story, these experiences honed my ability to capture the story that needs to be told and have further shaped my approach to visual storytelling.

I find people fascinating; whether on a New York Fashion Week catwalk, in a London home, in the aisles of their bodega or on the trails of their park. I believe that photography has the power to capture not just a frozen moment, but a connection between our past, present, and future. Whether I’m photographing families, creatives, or individuals, I work closely with each client to understand who they are and the story they’re in right now. From choosing the location to considering the time of day for the perfect light, my goal is to create portraits that simply document the person’s journey in a way that feels timeless.

“giving them context within the never-ending story of time.”

Every portrait I create is about more than just the individual—it’s about how their story fits within the larger human experience. Through my photography, I aim to document these personal moments while giving them context within the never-ending story of time.

and now?

I want to help you tell the next part of your story.

You might be a creative looking for images to represent your next project, a newly engaged couple needing someone to document their journey, a family looking for photos to mark the year, a model in search of editorial style work to add to your portfolio, or a mother wanting to honor this profound season… it is my delight to photograph you and help the world see the magic you want to show them.

FUN

FACTS

Last year I hit the 10 year mark in New York. I am an official New Yorker now.

I have four kids.

A gin & tonic is the best cocktail and should be made 50/50 with a slice of cucumber.

I love a personality typing test but hate when people get too into them. It’s a fine line guys.

I’m currently collecting candle holders, I realized they’re easier to keep alive than house plants.

I own every issue of American Vogue since September 2013. A collection that we question every time we move apartment. So heavy.

I have a thing about making extravagant cakes for my kids’ birthdays.

Spontaneity over planning, always. Although motherhood doesn’t really allow for this very often.

My first baby was a planned home birth and he was 10.8lbs.

I believe the correct restaurant etiquette is to always order fries for the table and never say no when they offer the dessert menu.

London Fashion Week is better than New York Fashion Week, sorry not sorry.

If in doubt, add sequins.

a shoot with me looks a little like

strolling the city streets while you pretend I’m not there and I capture the little moments we might usually take for granted. the little moments that are the glue that make each day hold together, and each relationship come alive

staying home in your comfy clothes, drinking coffee and letting the kids dump out all the toys while we build a tower and photograph squeaks of joy, intimate cuddles and the messy beauty that is life being life

stepping outside the box with me and getting creative, reimagining everything and creating something that perfectly embodies who you are and how you want to be seen by the world

wandering the wild in your favorite outside spot, climbing a tree or wading in a river. capturing the magic of the adventure, the memories and the spirit of you and your people
